Born in a village of Deoria district in eastern Uttar Pradesh. The rural setting of that time was not merely the atmosphere of life — it was the living world of folk culture. Folk songs, local dialects, stories, the soil of the fields, the simplicity of the villages — these were the sensitivities that would later create within him a deep intimacy with language and society.

The educational journey from Deoria to Gorakhpur and then to Varanasi was not merely a path of study, but a journey in the formation of a worldview. His association with Sampurnanand Sanskrit University, Varanasi, deepened his seriousness towards language and literature. Teaching and scholarship became inseparable dimensions of his personality.

Teaching and Principalship

1970s–2008

Teaching at B.N.K.B.P.G. College, Akbarpur, and later serving as Principal of Buddha P.G. College, Kushinagar, he did not confine education to the curriculum alone. For him, education meant the development of the capacity for thought. He retired as Principal in 2008, but his literary and intellectual life never stopped. Over thirty research papers appeared in distinguished journals. More than sixty lectures were delivered at major institutions across India.

1995–2009

After key meetings in Deoria in 1995, the Vishva Bhojpuri Sammelan took organised form. He served as National General Secretary from 1995 to 2004, and as International General Secretary from 2004 to 2009. Under his efforts, nine national conventions and four world conferences were organised. His aim was not merely to build a literary organisation, but to bring scattered efforts onto a shared platform so that Bhojpuri could gain serious national and international recognition.

Mauritius, China, and the World Stage

2004–2009

He made several visits to Mauritius, where Bhojpuri language and folk culture remain alive among the Indian-origin population. On his visit to China as a member of the Sahitya Akademi delegation, he presented the cultural traditions of Indian literature on the global stage. His vision was never limited to regional boundaries — he saw Bhojpuri as the cultural identity of the Indian society spread across the world.

The Trust and Its Archive

2024–2025

In 2024, he established the Smt. Kalavati Devi Memorial Trust in memory of his wife — not merely a formal organisation, but the extension of his final cultural aspiration: to keep Hindi and Bhojpuri literature alive and active. The literary event of 7 March 2025 was the last major programme under this Trust during his lifetime. On 15 July 2025, Dr. Arunesh Neeran passed away at home. NeeranLekha carries the work forward.
